Hi,

I would like to know if it is possible to use sols as binders in porous media (partially sintered ceramics) to increase their cohesion and mechanical properties.

I think it should be possible to partially fill pores/voids with a sol containing a high alkoxide/solvent ratio.I would like to use low (below 200°C) curing temperatures for my first experiments in order to keep an amorphous state and low density.

Does anyone here has an experience in such binding/impregnating applications?
If yes, can you indicate me what kind of sol I should experiment?

Thanx
