Hi,

I myself don't know much about this subject but I can give a contact. I met him at Euromat 2003:
R. Backov (backov@crpp-bordeaux.cnrs.fr)

Don't hesitate to contact him, he seems to know much about optical coating by solgel with complete introduction of solgel

Yours sincerely

howdy Vasant

may companies sell small vacuum coaters for this exact purpose.  Quite a few are installed in the retail store that sell the lenses and frames.

Several were at the Society of Vacuum Coaters (SVC) meeting last year.  The American Vacuum Society (AVS) meeting might have some vendors listed also.
