Hi,

I would like to know if it is possible to use sols as binders in porous media (partially sintered ceramics) to increase their cohesion and mechanical properties.

I think it should be possible to partially fill pores/voids with a sol containing a high alkoxide/solvent ratio.I would like to use low (below 200C) curing temperatures for my first experiments in order to keep an amorphous state and low density.

Does anyone here has an experience in such binding/impregnating applications?
If yes, can you indicate me what kind of sol I should experiment?

Thanx
