Nanophase Technologies Corp
The companys origins can be traced to research performed in the 1980s at Argonne
National Laboratory, where the beginnings of a unique process to fabricate nanomaterials
was developed. Nanophase further refined and developed this process, called Physical Vapor Synthesis (PVS).
It consists of using a plasma to heat and vaporize a precursor metal. The vapor
metal is coolled by a flux of gaz and condenses into liquid molecular clusters. Then a
reactive gaz is introduced in the chamber and react with the nanodroplet to produce the
nanoparticles. They have already in their catalogue the following oxides Al2O3,
Sb3Oa:SnO2, CuO, In2O3:SnO2, Fe2O3, Y2O3, ZnO. Particles which size is in the range of
20-100 nm can be on demand surface engineered (i.e; caping) to meet specific customers
requirements. |
