Dept of Materials Science &
Engineering at KAIST
Research Activities: The Laboratory of Optical
Materials and Coating (LOMC) is the university laboratory
directed by Professor Byeong-Soo Bae in the Department of
Materials Science and Engineering at Korea Advanced
Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) located in
Taejon. The major research in the LOMC is to develop new
materials and processing for application of integrated
micro-optical system. Currently, inorganic-organic hybrid
materials by sol-gel processing are extensively studied for
application of functional coatings and optical waveguides.
Also, thin films by chemical vapor deposition as well as
physical sputtering deposition are investigated for
microelectronic applications. The LOMC is proud of leading
group in the area of optical materials and sol-gel
processing in Korea. Currently, the research in the LOMC is
financially supported by government (Ministry of Science and
Technology), |
